Different Taps




Mixer (monobloc).

This type of fixture is very compact with close fitting spout and handlesin the design, (some are fitted with small diameter pipes for the water feed). Normally they will installed in a bathroom or a kitchen.

Bath and Basin Mixer Tap.

Built to incorporate both hot and cold supplies, allowing them to mix effortlessly and also feed the WC cistern. This type is not connected to systems where the cold is riser fed and the hot is cistern fed, because if their pressure changes, it may cause the stored water being fed through suction back into the mains. Mixers.

Consisting of two taps with a single spout so the water feeds can mix. They are linked together with a deck block (flat on the surface) or by a pillar type block (raised). A lot of mixers are two hole types that fit in a standard two hole sink.

Kitchen (mixer).

This tap’s spout has two inlets, one for hot and one for cold water. The kitchen cold tap is fed straight from the mains. It is illegal to mix mains cold with hot from a cistern in one filling. Its spout will swivel and should be capable of reaching both sides of a double sink, the handles are usually of a capstan or lever style.

Bath and Shower Mixers.

These type of taps have a switch that controls and diverts the flow of water from spout to shower head. The spray is not usually very strong but is quite handy for a bath fitting. They can be fitted by a Mill Hill Plumber.
